Akar begins with a simple idea: Malaysian batik belongs in the present tense. In work, evenings, ceremonies, and the spaces between them.
Our name is a reminder that moving forward does not mean leaving your roots behind. A sense of where you began can be the most assured part of how you arrive.

We begin with Malaysian-sourced materials and hand-stamped batik. Then consider the details that make a shirt personal.
French cuffs bring a deliberate finish at the wrist. An Italian-style collar adds structure. Optional initials at the cuff make a quiet distinction your own.
Distinctive cufflinks are part of the direction we are developing. We will share their final details as the collection takes shape.
Our first batches are expected to be approximately 10–50 shirts. Beginning deliberately gives us room to listen before deciding what comes next.
